Setting Up a Solana Wallet for Collection Viewing
You can browse many collection features without buying anything. This guide covers read-only setup for students and journalists attending our sessions.
Workshop participants often ask whether they need cryptocurrency to follow along. For our literacy sessions, the answer is no. Explorers and marketplace browse modes show most of what we discuss.
When a wallet helps
A wallet with zero balance still provides an address you can paste into explorers to see holdings structures and delegation settings. Some creators gate holder-only content behind wallet connection even for reading.
Choosing a browser extension
Install only from official publisher pages linked on the developer's own site. Write your seed phrase on paper; never store it in email or cloud notes. We demonstrate setup live but do not recommend specific brands — compare current options at the time of your visit.
Read-only habits
Decline transaction prompts during learning sessions. If a site asks you to sign something you did not initiate, close the tab and note the URL for discussion.
What we do not cover
Funding wallets, swapping tokens, or executing purchases fall outside our curriculum. Those choices belong to you and your own advisers.
